Simple, practical grooming advice for men in Sarasota: fades, styling, gray blending, skin and beard care.
Run your hand up the side of your head. If you can feel a clear line where short meets long, the blend has grown out. For most men that's around day 14 to 21.
Towel-dry until damp, work a pea-sized amount of product between your palms until it disappears, then apply back to front. Finish with fingers, not a comb, for natural texture.
Pomade gives shine and slick control. Clay gives matte texture and strong hold for thicker hair. Cream gives light, natural hold for finer hair. If you're not sure, ask Susy what she finished your cut with.
Box dye covers everything in one flat shade and grows out with a hard line. Blending keeps some gray, so regrowth is soft and the result looks like your own hair.
Use a color-safe shampoo, rinse with cool water, and wear a hat on the boat or beach. UV and chlorine are what turn blended color brassy.
Exfoliate twice a week, shave with the grain after a warm shower, and finish with a fragrance-free moisturizer. A monthly Gentleman's Facial helps clear ingrown-prone areas.
Wash your beard two or three times a week, not daily, and use a few drops of beard oil on damp hair to stop frizz and itch.
Bring a photo, say how you style it day to day, and tell your stylist how long you go between cuts. That last detail changes how a cut should be built.
